2006 YEAR END
NEWS HIGHLIGHTSDEC. 31ST, 200612-31-2006
The 2006 race season has come to an end; and with very noteworthy bookmarks in the history of NASCAR.
Still operating RACE CREW JOBS and being a full time employee with
FITZ-BRADSHAW RACING (soon to change name with the departure of Terry Bradshaw) I've had the pleasure of working with developmental drivers in the NASCAR GRAND NATIONAL SERIES; being a participant in the BUSCH EAST SERIES.
Anytime a team member has the honor of going down in the history books of NASCAR as accomplishing something that no one else in the sport can lay claim to, you know the feeling that it has left within yourself, and the feeling you know your teammates also share in those special moments; the moment I'm talking about?
Being in Victory Lane with the SUNOCO ROOKIE OF THE YEAR/NASCAR BUSCH EAST GRAND NATIONAL SERIES driver Ruben Pardo on September 30th, 2006 at the Limerock, Ct. Speedway.
On that date, history was made on several levels: First, a title going to a Hispanic/minority Driver at any level of NASCAR; second: FITZ-CONTRERAS Racing, a minority owned team with Armando Fitz and Carlos Contreras as co-owners providing the leadership to place top ten in owner points in the BUSCH EAST SERIES, placing 8TH for the season. Ruben Pardo also finished 8TH in driver points to top off a great year for the entire team.
Another honor for the season, was going to the IRWINDALE SPEEDWAY in California to participate in the TOYOTA ALL-STAR CHALLENGE October 20-21st, 2006. This invitation only event was a "challenge" at all levels. Ruben Pardo had his hands full with coming to terms with his car's setup and the track. His team mate, John Freeman, Jr., found the track to be to his liking, finishing 11th in the Saturday night feature event. As John Freeman's spotter, I had my hands full getting this talented driver to the front of the pack. With cars going four and five wide; running on seven cylinders, crew chief Ron Otto knew that John still had the car to beat; his 11TH place finish was pure driver talent, with in tow the hard work that his crew mustered for the entire weekend.
Finishing up my season on the show car/race simulator circuit; my travels took me to the TEXAS MOTORSPEEDWAY, and the season fianle at the HOMESTEAD SPEEDWAY. I would like to thank Scott Davis of PITROADNEWS.COM for being a great host and helper while we were on a pr mission with the FAMILY DOLLAR #14 DODGE CHARGER at Billy Bob's TEXAS in Fort Worth, Texas. Thanks to Marty Travis, General Manger of Billy Bob's for the V.I.P. Tour of the club, and what a club! You can find them at WWW.BILLYBOBSTEXAS.COM.
Thanks to Mike Vasquez of Miami, Florida for being a great assist to make sure all pr events went off without a hitch. We did everything from being at FAMILY DOLLAR STORE locations from Homestead to Sunrise, Florida, and everything in between. The Speed Street Festival, held in downtown Ft. Lauderdale was also up there in being one of the highlights of the weekend. It was a lot of work, but, the race fans give you that extra boost of energy to be at your best at this type of event.
We put the fans through their
paces in our FAMILY DOLLAR/MOVIDA Race Simulator.
We also had a pr appearance at Gloria Estefan's Restaurant, BONGOS, located right at the Port of Miami for the morning show, DESPIERTA AMERICA on Friday, 11-18-2006, with Carlos and Ruben doing interviews with the cast of the show. You can see this morning wake up call on the UNIVISION BROADCAST NETWORK. It broadcast from 7-10a.m. Monday-Friday (DIRECT TV CHANNEL 402) CHECK YOUR LOCAL LISTINGS ALSO.
I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

2006SHOW CAR AND PERSONAL APPEARANCE UPDATE/RICHMOND VA. AND WASHINGTON, D.C., 2006
What an interesting week, after taking the summer off from racing to catch up with friends and family, and to see if I was prepared to stay within the sport by some means.
When offered a full time position with Fitz-Bradshaw Racing, and able to keep RACE CREW JOBS up and going; I decided to enter the ring of racing again on Labor Day.
My first assignment; head to Richmond, Va. to do a marathon of show car and race simulator dates for Fitz-Bradshaw Racing sponsor; FAMILY DOLLAR STORE(S).
I had a great time in the Richmond area; it was two shows per day at diffrent locations, but, all my readers know, I'm always up for a challenge.
Thanks to the store managers, regional managers of FAMILY DOLLAR for making my visit so enjoyable, and able as always, to make new friends, bring new fans to the sport, and to realize what the sport is truly about: THE FANS!!!!!!!!!!
The Richmond and Ashland store locations are the place for your needs; stop in and see those great folks; if they do not have it; they will find it for you!
I left for Mooresville, NC, after doing two full days for FAMILY DOLLAR enroute to switch out show cars to head to Washington, D.C. for my next adventure...
WASHINGTON, D.C.
I left to do a show car for something a little diffrent for me; a book signing.
I arrived at the headquarters of the FREEMASONRY SOUTHERN JURISDICTION HEADQUARTERS, located at 1733 16th Street NW in Washington, D.C. to prepare for the placement of the SUPERCUTS/BOOK OF FATE #12 DODGE CHARGER on display for author Brad Meltzer's debut of his latest novel, BOOK OF FATE.
This show had all kinds of sub-plots; but, the mystery veil was lifted as I made my rounds talking to the various guests and the author himself of why I was there...
Mike Calinoff, WINSTON CUP WINNING SPOTTER FOR MATT KENSETH/2003/GET INTO RACING SEMINARS/GANASSI RACING happens to be personal friends with the author Brad Meltzer; he also has the honor of being one of the characters depicted in the BOOK OF FATE.
Mike and Jenn Calinoff helped to place decals on our #12 SUPERCUTS/FITZ-BRADSHAW DODGE CHARGER with the BOOK OF FATE logo for the RICHMOND INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY event on various areas of the car. I had the honor of representing the team for this prestigious event.
After blowing a trailer tire; battling D.C.traffic; racing buses for positon, I was able to stage my transport unit in front of the facility to preview the car; thankfully on time...
It was great to talk racing with fans, and the fans to be. It is amazing how you can bring the kid out of almost anyone when they start looking inside a race car; probally remembering the time they pretended they were a racer while riding their tricycle, or bicycle, or motorcycle or even driving on the interstate to attend the event. Let me tell you, you have to have a TALLADEGA MINDSET" to drive in D.C.
The show was a success; Brad Meltzer and I exchanged gifts; I gave him a team shirt, and he gave me an autographed copy of the BOOK OF FATE; his words ring true; "Now we are family." THANKS TO BRAD AND HIS LOVELY WIFE CORI FOR MAKING ME FEEL AT HOME!
I would also like to thank Dean Alban of the FREEMASONRY for providing such a beautiful facility to visit and his generous efforts to help me in any way to make the show go off without a hitch.
I always meet great people on the road during my travels; and now is time to thank someone that help repair my trailer during this trip.
Gloria G. Raum and her husband, owners of HOLIDAY MOTOR TRAILER SALES, located at 11746 Central Ave., Waldorf, Maryland 20601
If you ever have any trailer problems, including the Haulmark Trailers, call these folks for any repair or service needs at (301) 870-9885 or (301) 399-2773.
UPDATES TO FOLLOW WILL BE ABOUT MY BUSCH EAST RACES AT NEW HAMPSHIRE; DOVER AND AT THE LIME ROCK SPEEDWAYS
MUSIC CITY MOTORPLEX
NASHVILLE, TN.09-01-2006Congrats to driver Willie Allen of Bon Aqua, Tn. on winning the NASCAR DODGE WEEKLY SERIES LATE MODEL DIVISION Race on 09-01-2006 at the Music City Motorplex in Nashville, Tn. Willie was ten points from taking the series title, which was won by Mark Daye. (SEE PHOTO GALLERY; TOP PHOTO DRIVER IN MIDDLE)
The real story of the day was Josh Petrino!(SEE SAME PHOTO IN THE PHOTO GALLERY/ON LEFT) He is Willie's crew chief, but a seasoned driver in his own right. Not only did he lead Willie to victory, but, he also helped with the setup of the truck for the SUPERTRUCKS winner, Ronnie Campbell. So, he had his input with two winners in the same day!!! Now that shows promise and talent as a future top level crew chief. Josh is currently studying engineering at the University of Kentucky; talk about hands on experience!!!
NEXT UPDATE WILL BE ON MY RICHMOND, VA. AND WASHINGTON, D.C. SHOW CAR APPEARANCES FOR THE WEEK OF 09-05-2006/09-07-2006.
WATERFORD, CT
BIG Y WORLD
CLASS MARKET 150August 19th,
2006After leaving on Friday, 08-18-2006, I was headed to work my first ever NASCAR BUSCH EAST Race in Waterford, Ct.
I left, pulling an EVERNHAM MOTORSPORTS trailer, headed to stage in Hartford, Ct. where we were housing the night before the race.
Enroute to the event, I had my own race to contend with. After experiencing a blowout on my trailer, I had road side service to come and aid me on the very high traffic area of I-85. "Taco", my road side expert showed up to assist me with my flat, and another tire that may go at any time. After Taco got me repaired on was on my way to end up running into a 20 mile traffic backup...construction on Friday; Virgina DOT take note; no repairs on a Friday afternoon.
After arriving in Hartford, Ct at 5a.m. on race day; I checked into my room to catch three hours of sleep until time to make the 10:30 transporter check in time at the Waterford Speed Bowl Track.
After arriving at the track; well, let's just say if "looks could kill" I would of died right there on the spot. I guess the local racers in the series were intimidated when they saw the solid red Evernham Motorsports trailer, which was a loaner to the team to make the trip.
I could see the "what the heck is going on here" comments; like the man himslef (Ray Evernham) was going to come out of the truck and scare the hell out of all of them.
Once parked, I made my rounds to talk to the other teams to explain what our intentions were, and that we were there in the spirit of good competition and we had Carlo Contrearas's/Fitz-Bradshaw development driver, Ruben Pardo of Mexico City, Mexico.
The day was a hot one, and in the pit area, which is located outside of the track, we were working on a part grass, part gravel area. Bill Farnsworth, team manager for Fitz-Bradshaw Racing decided we needed to sturdy up the ground area around the car for crew chief Rodney Jockisch and the rest of the crew.
So, only having a small rental car to get around in; I left for the local HOME DEPOT to purchase at least eight 4' x 8' boards to put the car on. Now, the only way this was going to work was cut the boards in smaller increments, or rent the local delivery truck from the HOME DEPOT.
Now, after making my purchase, I head to the rental desk, only to find out that the truck had just been reserved....oh no.....so I had to think fast. Then John, whom worked in the lumber yard area offered his services to get the materials to the track for me. What a lifesaver; we pulled that one off nicely, but only because of nice people...they truly are everywhere!
I've worked with a lot of drivers over the years, especially developing drivers, and seasoned pros alike.
As soon as I met Ruben, I knew I liked him and the ethics and concern he showed for his crew members and fellow racers alike. He has proven himself in his native country of Mexico as a racer, now he is showing that he is worthy to compete in the USA.
As the race ended for the evening, Ruben Pardo finished ninth in the race; placing him tenth in overall standings for the NASCAR BUSCH EAST SERIES. But, the story does not end there...
Ruben Pardo is in the battle to take Rookie of the Year for the series; he is currently leading the SUNOCO ROOKIE STANDINGS by a margin of 1 point of fellow contender, Dion Ciccarelli, 68-67 respectively.
If Ruben does take the rookie title, he will be the first minority to take any title in the history of NASCAR in any division. I am proud to be a part of history; it may be a minor part, but we all make up the big picture for success.
I feel we will be hearing more from Ruben Pardo....
Ruben's next race will be at the New Hampshire International Speedway during the week of 09-14-2006/09-17-2006.
I HOPE WE SEE YOU THERE!!!!!!
UPDATES:MARCH/APRIL2006I guess I put the wrong headline on my post; I'll correct them later.
In my previous post, I was in Maryland, where it was definitely chilly, but, I had no idea what was ahead for me as I left to head to the Bristol Motor Speedway with the SUPERCUTS/BLUEGREEN/TAKEMEONVACATION.COM DODGE.
As I arrived on Friday, March 24th, the snow showers started coming down. As I awaited the arrival of Christi Taylor, Marketing Program Manager for our sponsor, TAKEMEONVACATION.COM; other contact site is WWW.GREATVACATIONDESTINATIONS.COM.
It was cold, and blowing snow.
We unloaded the showcar, and prepared for the weekend's events.
I've been at Bristol before when it was cold, but, not snowing.
I left the track enroute to my motel room in Banner Elk, N.C.
I realized the snow was not going to ease up, as the roadway started to disappear under the snow.
I finally arrived at the motel; ususally a ski lodge during the regular season; I told them they had shut down too early in the year.
Saturday; what a treat!
It started blowing snow to the point the race was red flagged. Then, the games began; that snow, the wait:hmmmmmm; can we say snowball fight!!!
It was an interesting time; not the heat we are use to; or just plain cold dry air, but snow.
As I returned back to the motel/lodge for the evening, the snow came in during the night; I had four plus inches of the freezing white stuff on my truck and trailer.
Who needed the ice machine; I just sat the "cold ones" outside to let nature take it's course.
It was another facet of how racing takes you into adventures you could never imagine...
APRIL UPDATE
On April 19th, I left for Macon, Ga. with showcar and simulator in tow to do a show for James "Jim" Heid, Southeast Regional Manager for ITT INDUSTRIES/GOULDS PUMPS at the GPM INDUSTRIES, INC.
This was definitely a fun time.
Glenn Robinson of GPM INDUSTRIES put on a first class presentation for associate vendors. The food that was catered in for the two day event was excellent!
The race simulator was a hit; folks were lined up; and the track of choice was ATLANTA MOTORSPEEDWAY.
I guess those folks in the Macon area love their home track, and why not?
After leaving on April 21st, I arrived in Alabama; doing a showcar and simulator for a local sunroom company. There was not the turnout expected, but, it was a great time for all those that came out.
COMING UPDATE WILL BE FOR AUGUST/2006 ON MY TRIP TO HARTFORD/WATERFORD, CT. TO WORK THE BUSCH EAST SERIES
MARCH UPDATES, 2006BRISTOL MOTORSPEEDWAThe old saying that "March comes in like a Lion and goes out like a Lamb" was not on the road in the later part of March of 2006!
After driving cross country, dodging snow on the return trip from Las Vegas; I left to do a car show for ITT INDUSTRIES/GOULDS PUMPS on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay area of Maryland in Queen Anne's County on March 22nd.
I arrived at the Chesapeake College Campus to setup the GOULDS PUMPS DODGE for Fitz-Bradshaw Racing to help the elementary students in the area learn the importance of H2O in their everyday lives.
"WINNING WATER" was the title of the expo for the students. ITT GOULDS; FRANKLIN ELECTRIC; MDWWA; PENTAIR; AQUAFLOW PUMPS, INC; LIFETIME WELL DRILLING; MILBY CO; SHANNAHAN ARTESIAN WELL CO sponsored the "Pole Position", as students went through several classes; exhibitions to learn how important water is to the survival of community and the fishing industry on the Chesepeake Bay. After completing the tour, students ran to the finish line, where they were able to have their photos taken with the showcar.
I'm not sure how many handprints got onto the show car from my excited participants, but, it was worth every moment of cleanup. This was the first time some of these children had the experience of seeing a race car close up. I figured the event was hands on, so I tried to make the car the same. (No parts came up missing).
Dennis Coggins, Vice-President of ITT INDUSTRIES was there with local political figures to spread the conservation message, and to make sure the children had a most enjoyable experience.
I would like to thank Mr. Coggins, and the staff of the organizing committee; CHESAPEAKE COLLEGE; DELAWARE GEOLOGICAL SURVEY; UNIVERSITY OF DELAWARE; DEPARTMENT OF THE ENVIRONMENT EDUCATION; ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERN INC.; MARYLAND DEPT OF THE ENVIRONMENT; MARYLAND/DELAWARE WATER WELL ASSOCIATION; MARYLAND DEPT OF NATURAL RESOURCES WATERSHED SERVICES; MARYLAND STATE DEPT OF EDUCATION; MARYLAND COOPERATIVE EXTENSION; QUEEN ANNE'S COUNTY HEALTH DEPT; SALISBURY ZOO; WATER SYSTEMS COUNTY; WATER SYSTEMS COUNCIL, for their warm reception and hospitality during my stay in the area.
Thanks also for the great t-shirt with all the events participants; it will remain in my collection.
Also, thanks to Chesepeake College Catering Staff for the wonderful meals; I wish school food had been that great in my day!
2006 FIRST QUARTER NEWSFEB. 24-APR.23, 2006UPDATES FILED ON 06-04-2006
RACE CREW JOBS started out the beginning of the season on a marathon cross country drive on behalf of FITZ-BRADSHAW RACING.
ROAD JOURNAL OF ED SIMMONS
The journey started at 7:p.m., 02-24-2006, leaving from the shop of Fitz-Bradshaw Racing, enroute to Laredo, Texas with the Mexico City bound race cars.
I was to meet up with the transporters, leaving from the California Speedway to exchange cars and equipment at the Werner Enterprises Terminal in Laredo, Texas.
I arrived in Laredo on Sunday around 11a.m. est, 02-26-2006.
I checked into my motel, overcoming an obvious language barrier, to get to my room and get the much needed shower and sleep I so much needed.
On Monday, 02-27-2006, I met the #12 Supercuts transporter of Scott Clodfelter, and Ken and Lori Adams in the #14 GOULDS PUMPS transporter.
We started the tasks of exchanging out cars and equipment; them taking the Mexico City bound cars from my transporter, and I taking on board the primary cars for the Las Vegas Race.
We put in two full days to accomplish this; with me having to wait on Dennis with MICHAEL WALTRIP RACING to bring me two MIKE EGE/EVERNHAM MOTORSPORTS engines to also take on the road trip to VEGAS.
We accomplished the exchanges, and on Tuesday afternoon, 02-28-2006, I was enroute to Las Vegas to prepare the team for the following weekends event after the lengthy journey to Las Vegas from Mexico City.
I arrived at the Las Vegas Speedway on the afternoon of 03-02-2006 to park the trailer, and to secure all for next weekends race.
During the last leg of the journey up Hwy. 95 in California (they should run the BAJA Race on this road), a wheel chock came loose over this bumpy, curvy, narrow road, and did damage to the left rear crush panel and left quarter on the #12 Supercuts Car. I was devastated.
Then I had to make the call(s) to let Butch Hylton, crew chief, and car chief, Josh Tucker, along with James Carrigan know the extent of the damage. James told me not to worry, it would be taken care of.
I then went on my mini-vacation, staying with my best friend, Mike Davis's parents, John and Charlotte in their lovely home in North Las Vegas. It was great to have the down time, and they were such a great host and hostess. It was like having a home away from home.
I then checked into the team's housing on 03-09-2006. We were provided great suites (thats what I had) at the STRATOSPHERE HOTEL AND CASINO on the north end of the famous Las Vegas Strip.
I met so many fans in the casino, as we had a show car on display near the sports betting area of the casino. We put the #14 GOULDS PUMP car of Carlos Contreras on display, which finished 11th during the running of the road race at Mexico City the previous weekend.
The fans were at first confused, until I made them realize the car was a road race car, and that is why the fueling area was on the opposite side of the car.
Race day for me started at 4a.m.
I was up, having breakfast, and on the way to the PALMS CASINO RESORT to pick up another show car there that was for a local business meeting. While at the PALMS, Spencer, Asst. Facilities Manager, and Michael Kuhn took James Carrigan and myself on a tour of the luxury suites. WOW!!! We went to the suite that Dale Earnhardt, Jr. had stayed in, along with other notable celebs such as Dennis Rodman, Carmen Elektra; Kevin Costner. They had autographed the wall on the full regulation half court basketball area. Yes, a basketball court in a suite. This place is fit for a king!
Now I know how someone can spend $50,000 per night for luxury, or be a high roller and get it for free!
I spent the day doing everything from helping to set up show cars; to transporting Mimi Fitz and friends to the track; to getting her to a meeting with co-owner, Terry Bradshaw. It was a busy day at the track to say the least. Drivers Joel Kauffman and Tracy Hines did not have the luck they had so wished for, but, there were problems all day.
After spending the day working; it was time to head downstairs for the evening's entertainment at the STRATOSPHERE. I met up with friends I had made the previous evening, and we took advantage of the live entertainment. We partied and danced the night away. I got back to my room at 4a.m.; 24 hours after I had first started my day's journey.
Before I could hit the club, I had to get key personnel to the airport for the journey back to N.C.
I finally started loading up at 3:00a.m. the following Monday Morning and left for home; knowing I had over 2200 miles to go. I arrived in N.C. on Wednesday night around 11:00p.m.
It was a great time. I made so many new friends at the track and in the Las Vegas community. It was great to be on the road, but, it was also great to come home...
I would like to give a special thanks to the following folks that helped me during my long journey; Rhonda Rhodes with the FUELMAN Company for helping me to coordinate the many fuel stops I had to make; John and Charlotte Davis for the "home away from home"; James Carrigan, show car/transport coordinator.
Next update is on my Washington, D.C. and Bristol Motorspeedway trips. Unitl the next time...

TALLADEGA SUPERSPEEDWAY
FALL/2005OCT. 1-2, 2005"I SURVIVED TALLADEGA/FALL/2005" is what the t-shirt; hat; bumper sticker should read that I wear or place on my vehicles.
WOW; what a long week; to say the least; but, you know me; I never say less...
Arriving at the track on Tuesday September 27th was great. I thought getting in a day early would get me a start on the rest I would need to make it through the week.
WRONG; I was met by some local folks that have supported myself and several of the RACE CREW JOBS personnel over the years to go out for a much needed hot meal and "beverage" to shake off the 400 mile trip. (THANKS "DEGA" AND KEVIN FOR A WONDERFUL EVENING; NIKKI THANKS FOR THE GAMES OF TIC TAC TOE)
After getting the "most redneck looking thing I've ever seen in the competitor's parking area" as remarked by one of Andy Belmont's "crew members", I parked my 1985 International/Thomasville converted bus/rv in the infield area.
This "redneck rv" does everything the high dollar coaches attempt to accomplish; I have a restroom; private bedroom; ac; microwave; fridge; kitchen and bathroom sinks; heat; storage; private closet space; living room/work area, and last and not least, I had satellite and power by HONDA for the week.
I also had the highest deck in the infield area!!!!!
What I have invested in this "redneck rv"; the same gentleman probaly makes the same amount in monthly payments on his unit. My insurance is $229 per year; hmmmmm; whom is the redneck here???
Okay, back to the story line at hand...
I went to Talladega to assist the efforts of Ricky Gonzalez, the first hispanic driver/owner in the 53 year history of the ARCA REMAX Series. (SEE RICKYGONZALEZ.COM)
Assisted by Chris Lafferty as Crew Chief and Allen Wellman as mechanic, I attempted to set my sights on the outlay of the 2.66 mile superspeedway as Ricky's spotter.
I've spotted at the track before, and Ricky had a 20th place finish in the previous 2004 season driving for Wayne Peterson Motorsports, but, this situation had a diffrent feel to it. I wanted Ricky to make more than footnotes in history of the REMAX SERIES.
With Joe Rhyne horsepower in the 2004 Monte Carlo, we set our goals high, but, knew we had 55 plus entries to go against to put the car through it's paces to make the FOOD WORLD 300.
Unfortunately, we did not make the event; however, we built a chemistry on and off the race track that we are going to try to carry into the NASCAR CRAFTSMEN TRUCK/BUSCH SERIES for the remainder of the 2005 season.
Ricky is a talented driver; he has a great personality, and represents himself well.
We are currently seeking sponsorship for Ricky's program for the remainder of the 2005 season, and are looking for primary sponsorship for 2005.
Talladega will whip you into shape quickly. Walking to take a shower is 1.2 miles; round trip of course (useless fact unless you are the one making the walk)
I know, where is the shower in the bus?; water in the infield shower is free; delivered water cost about as much as the diesel did during the trip.
So, you learn to commute; I mean to all locations; especially the spotter's tower.
We always meet so many great folks in our travels, but, I would like to say a special RACE CREW JOBS HELLO to "CASPER", "DROOPY", and last but not least, "PSYCHO".
No, these are not "TALLADEGA BOULEVARD" regulars; these are our men in uniform that did the race day flyovers for the weekend.
"DROOPY" stopped by and had hot dogs and hamburgers with us, and I made him promise I would get to go up in his F-15 when I was in Daytona next year....I remember what you guys told me; no solids 12 hours before we do the deal; I'm going to hold you guys to this.
It was a great week; we made new friends; got to see old ones, and remembered the wild times we have all shared there one time or another.
TALLADEGA BOULEVARD was not the same this year; a little more tame than I recall. But, it is a great place to visit and be seen.
I talked with Robert Yates, giving him congrats on taking the front row for the Nextel Cup Race; talked with Mike Wallace about his victory last year at Daytona during the July race when I was there under contract with another team; and of course, Robby Gordon riding around with a NAPA hat on with Michael Waltrip's number on it goes without saying...
SEE JAYSKI.COM FOR NASCAR INFO ON THE EVENT; AND SEE ARCARACING.COM for the October 1st race rundown.
STAY TUNED FOR MORE NEWS AND PERSONAL NEWS...
I hope to see everyone there next year; and a special thanks to Patsy Pledger and Mark Yates of the TALLADEGA SUPERSPEEDWAY for their efforts to make the week special for all competitors in the infield area.

SUMMER TIME UPDATES!!!SEPT. 13TH, 2005 WOW, summer is fading, and fall is on the horizon...time goes so quickly...
So, we will make this update a quick one.
Congrats to Chris Cook and Randy Hansen, tire changer and carrier for DAWAYNE BRYAN, driver of the #65 BRYAN RACING DODGE; winner of the SK HAND TOOL 200 at the CHICAGOLAND SPEEDWAY on September 10th, 2005.
Chris Cook has several races under his belt with RACE CREW JOBS, and Randy Hansen helped us out last year at CHICAGOLAND SPEEDWAY as a tire carrier for the Larry Hollenbeck entry.
These guys did a great job; especially with a driver in only his second start in the ARCA REMAX/SERIES.
A recent hire RACE CREW JOBS assisted with, is Rodney Jockisch whom was a pleasure to work with during the 2004, and the beginning of the 2005 season in the NASCAR BUSCH SERIES. Rodney is currently with FITZ-BRADSHAW RACING, handling shop duties; and made his first road trip to help field the entry of up and coming driver, Joel Kauffman.
JOEL KAUFFMAN drove the #14 CYCLE COUNTRY-MIMI FITZ/(FITZ-BRADSHAW PREPARED) entry in the ARCA REMAX/SERIES at the CHICAGOLAND SPEEDWAY this past weekend.
Joel qualified 14th for the event, and finished in a top ten spot of 8th to finish out his day.
The #14 car stayed in the top ten most of the race, with running as high as 2nd place, when the team had to come in for a green flag stop for fuel; getting caught in the pits when the caution came out for an on track incident.
JOEL KAUFFMAN also received the SK TOOL LAP 85/85TH ANNIVERSARY TOOL SET.
#90, David Ragan finished 2nd with Joey Miller taking 3rd place honors.
JOEY MILLER also set a one lap record of 177.212 to take the PORK POLE AWARD for the event.
RACE CREW JOBS will also be providing personnel for the upcoming FOOD WORLD 300 at the TALLADEGA SUPERSPEEDWAY, which will be on OCTOBER 1ST, 2005. You can find us parked in the competitor's area (ARCA) in the big bus rv. Ed Simmons will be there on 09-28-2005/Wednesday to set up a schedule for attending personnel.
Thanks to Mark Yates of TALLADEGA SUPERSPEEDWAY for assisting us in making our arrangements for the week.
SPEED CHANNEL WILL HAVE THE FOOD WORLD 300 ON TAPE DELAY, AIRING AT 9:30PM EDT ON OCTOBER 1ST, 2005.
ALSO, SEND THOSE DONATIONS TO THE AMERICAN RED CROSS; LET US KEEP THE FLOW GOING TO THE PEOPLE IN THE DEVASTATED GULF COAST AREA!!!!!

FOR 2005JULY 31ST, 2005GOOD DAY READERS; IT IS TIME TO UPDATE YOU ON HAPPENINGS WITH PAST RACECREWJOBS.COM ASSOCIATES
We would like to start with Lucas Nobbe, class of 2002; whom is currently with Fitz-Bradshaw Racing in the NASCAR BUSCH SERIES as a Tire Specialist. "Luke" as he likes to be called is also an in house shop mechanic, and travels with the #12 team on weekends, doing the tires and whatever other duties that may be handed down to him. Luke is a reserved individual, but, is one of the hardest working young men I've had the pleasure to work with. Luke is a graduate of the UNIVERSITY OF OHIO/NORTHWESTERN; a program that we have worked with since Daytona/2003.
Troy Boyer, class of 2004, is currently with Kevin Lepage Racing; fielding the #37 car in the NASCAR NEXTEL CUP SERIES. Troy is currently working in the fabrication shop and is also part of the weekend track crew. Troy started out as a tire carrier/mechanic when RACE CREW JOBS was providing personnel for T.J. Bell during his stellar run in the ARCA Series in 2004, with crew chief Jeff McClure. T.J. Bell was crowned with Rookie of the Year honors in ARCA for the 2004 season. Troy is a former "roadie" for some of the most famous rock bands in the world, doing duty as a guitar specialist for some of the best in the music business. If you need guitar repair or tuning, you can contact Troy at his cell phone number; (704) 500-6036. Troy is a graduate of the NASCAR TECHNICAL INSTITUTE.
Jeremy Fuller, class of 2004, is currently with JUNIOR MOTORSPORTS(JR MOTORSPORTS) (Dale Earnhardt, Jr.) in the HOOTERS PRO CUP SERIES. Jeremy is an excellent tire changer, and is becoming a "go to" guy in his own right. Jeremy is a graduate of the NASCAR TECHNICAL INSTITUTE.
CONGRATS to Jeremy and the entire JUNIOR MOTORSPORTS team, with driver Mark McFarland on his recent victory on July 23rd, 2005 at the Southern National Speedway at kenly, N.C.

Total earnings for the day; $10,500.00; victory: PRICELESS!!!!! Clay Rogers finished second with Shane Huffman coming in third place. The crew's pit stop time was a flat 16 seconds; way to go guys!!!!!!!!!

(Dad is a FORD fan)
Congrats to Stuart Kirby on his 2005 Nextel start at Michigan with the Marathon Oil sponsorship of his #51 team.
Stuart left the race at almost the half way point, taking the car behind the wall for unknown reasons at this press release to have an unoffical result of 42nd for the day.
Stuart Kirby is a talented driver that is wel deserving of a break to compete at the premier level of NASCAR.
EVERYONE HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
UAW-GM OHIO 250
MANSFIELD SPEEDWAYMAY 15TH, 2005It was a stormy weekend for the running of the UAW-GM OHIO 250; on and off the track!
As the teams from the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN TRUCK SERIES rolled into the Mansfield Motorsports Speedway; everyone knew it was going to be a challenge when the weather turned dangerous.
Traveling into the Ohio area, passing through Columbus, storms were everywhere; tornado warnings; hail; severe winds; it was a driving nightmare!
Storms took their toll on the the MANSFIELD MOTORSPORTS SPEEDWAY, with stands in turns one and two, being lifted up into the air by an apparent funnel cloud passing through the area.
The stands were a twisted wreckage on Friday night; thank GOD it was on Friday and not on Sunday!!
This particular grandstand was to seat approximately 5000 spectators, eager to see the stars of the truck series in action.
No one was injured in the incident.
The storms were consistent with, rain for the most of Saturday during the day, which was do or die for some of the part time teams that had to have the qualifying session to race their truck.
RACE CREW JOBS provided the team of RENAISSANCE RACING with spotter, Ed Simmons for first year driver in the series, Jim Walker.
Jim has come a long way in motorsports over the last two seasons. He had a great finish of 9th at TALLADEGA SUPERSPEEDWAY during the running of the ARCA event last Fall of 2004.
Jim was one of the drivers that had to make it in on time; there needed to be a break in the weather to get that chance.
NASCAR delayed qualifying to as late as possible, with the trucks hitting the track around 7:30PM to what turned out to be a "super green" track, with so much drying effort put into place, that a kerosene residue remained on the track for the first several trucks that went out.
I figured I was charmed ( Ed Simmons) since I had missed deer running across the interstate during the intense storms; had missed two tornadic episodes; and had not spilt one drop of coffee during the "COLUBUS RUSH HOUR 5:00."
However, when I went to the spotter meeting, I was asked to pull our number for qualifying.
Tear up the lottery tickets; cash your hand out, I pulled the #1 qualifying spot.
No one wants the #1 spot for qualiying, especially on a still damp track, that almost looked like it had an ice glaze on it...
Jim swallowed that pill better than I would have, but, he was ready to deal with the situation at hand.
Jim gave the run his all; he should have wrecked at least three times on the half mile track, but, kept her off the walls.
Jim did not run anywhere near his practice times during a brief dry spell before qualifying was to take place.
Jim will be back; he has a great truck owner in Steve Smith, and has a great bunch of crew members behind him.
It was a pleasure to be around such a solid, dedicated, laid back crew.
To learn more on Jim Walker and his crew, go to JIMWALKER74.COM for a complete rundown, and a place to sign up for a team newsletter.
Until the next time....

THANKS TO EVERYONE ON THE CALLS; CARDS; LETTERS; E-MAILS CONCERNING THE PASSING OF MY SISTER, SUSAN.
GOD BLESS EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU!
IN MEMORY OF MY SISTER,
SUSAN ELAINE SIMMONS MYERSOCTOBER 15TH, 1960
On April 5th, 2005, my sister,
Susan Elaine Simmons Myers, passed away at her residence.
Susan was 44 years of age, and she is survived by her loving husband, David Myers of Mocksville, N.C.; four sons, Aaron, Matt, Jonathan and Josh.
She became a grandmother on January 31st, 2005, welcoming the arrival of Bryson Andrew Moore.
Susan, we all miss you so much; I wish I could say, I love you one more time. I long for the day in the next life we meet again to catch up on all the things you missed in this physical life.
Susan was laid to rest in the family plots of the Simmons Family at the Oakwood Cemetary in Statesville, N.C. on April 9th, 2005.
Thanks to the wonderful staff of Nicholson Funeral Home of Statesville for helping our friends and family through this most heart felt loss.
A special thanks to Chris Benfield, whom provided the beautiful music that touched all of our hearts on the day of celebration of my sister's eternal life.
SUSAN, WE WILL ALWAYS LOVE AND MISS YOU, YOU ARE IN EACH AND EVERYONE'S HEART.
Until we meet again, our prayers and love remain forever holding to you; MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR'S.
SALEM SPEEDWAY
SALEM, INDIANAAPRIL 24TH, 2005Salem, Indiana; what a place to go to see all the seasons of the year take place in the time frame of three days.
When I contacted Mike Harmon concerning a ride to Salem, he was more than gracious to provide that for me, due to vehicle problems with the "infamous" "SHAG WAG".
Ironically, I ended up being partnered for the road trip with Terry Watkins, a former room mate and associate of RACE CREW JOBS that I introduced to the racing community in the Mooresville area back in 2002.
We spent the trip cathing up on old times, and it was like we never missed a beat in the last two plus years of not running in the same circles.
Upon our arrival, we were warned of approaching severe thunderstorms and potential hail, along with the possibility of tornado activity.
Well, when we arrived at the track, it started raining, along with large size hail, so the weather man was pretty much on target.
I was there on behalf of Mike Koch, driving the #10 entry of Andy Hillenburg of the FAST TRACK DRIVING SCHOOL.
The car was also being sponsored by K&K Racing/Karl's Plumbing of Mountain Home, Arkansas.
Being there for spotter duties was a challenge a mountain climber might have to endure due to the ever changing weather conditions.
I experienced, frigid winds, hail, sleet, snow, rain and for a southern man, it was an uncommon site for that late in April.
Mike Koch had engine failure during practice, so, I knew then I would be without a race day duty.
I talked with Ricky Gonzalez, driver of the Wayne Peterson #6 entry, that was in need of a spotter.
Ricky is one of 12 drivers selected out of 250 for NASCAR's Diversity Driver Program to develop his skills to one day to hopefully move up in the ranks to run a full time Nascar deal.
Ricky has the heart and desire to be a success in NASCAR; we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.
I wish Mike Koch and all the personnel at K&K Racing future success in the ARCA Series.
You can visit their website at KOCHRACING.COM, or their driver of the #79 entry, Tim Turner, at TNTRACING.COM
Until the next time, keep the faith, and keep on trying to make those races, especially the ones life throw at us each and every day!

GOING UP AGAINST THE BEST REGULARS IN THE NASCAR BUSCH SERIES, ALONG WITH
SUPERSTARS OF THE SUPERSPEEDWAYS FROM THE NEXTEL CUP SERIES LED TO A RUSH

WE KNEW EARNHARDT, JR., TRUEX, AND GREG BIFFLE WERE GOING TO BE STRONG.
RACE CREW JOBS PERSONNEL WERE THERE ON BEHALF OF THE EFFORTS OF S.W.A.T.
RACING, WITH DRIVER LARRY HOLLENBECK.
WE QUALIFIED 36TH, TAKING THE LAST SPOT ON TIME, IT WAS DO OR DIE, WE HAD NO
PROVISIONALS!
LARRY DID A FINE JOB FOR THE NIGHT, STILL LEARNING THE EFFECTS OF THE DRAFT,
REACHING A POSITION AS HIGH AS 11TH DURING THE FIRST HALF OF THE RACE.
WHILE RUNNING WITH THE PACK, A "SPOOK CAUTION" WAS CALLED BY THE SPOTTER,
SENDING LARRY ON A RIDE ACROSS THE GRASSY STRETCH COMING OUT OF TURN FOUR.
THERE WAS NO INCIDENTS ON THE TRACK, AND LARRY RECOVERED THE CAR, STAYING IN
THE TOP TWENTY.
NOW, I AS A SPOTTER KNOW HOW IT FEELS, SOMETIMES, YOUR SIXTH SENSE ONLY
PRODUCES ENOUGH ENERGY TO BE ABOUT 5 1/2 OF THE ACTUAL SENSE, NO TRUE HARM,
NO FOUL, JOEY YOU ARE A GREAT SPOTTER, MOTIVATOR, OR SHOULD I SAY, A
POSITIVE INSTIGATOR.
LARRY FINISHED THE RACE 23RD ON THE LEAD LAP, TAKING $19,395.00 FOR THE
POSITION.

MICHIGAN ARCA 200JUNE 19TH, 2004Personnel left from N.C. to head to Brooklyn Michigan on June 18th to prepare for the running at the 2 mile length MICHIGAN INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY on June, 19th of the ARCA 200.
We were contracted by SWAT RACING
(swatracing.com) to provide personnel for driver Larry Hollenbeck
RECAP:Larry Hollenbeck qualified 14th for the race; however, due to not completing tech before the 11:30 a.m. deadline, we were placed at the back of the field. OPINION/OBSERVATION: Now in the past, if you were in line, which we were; then, no penalties were issued. This team, with new crew chief, Rodney Yokish, made every effort to complete the process. The 70 team (SWAT RACING) received what many thought would be the death of a great run by going to the back of the field. We were not the only ones that received the wrath of the officials; even the pole sitter went to the back of the field for the supposed same infraction.
So, when you are handed lemons; you make lemonade............
The #70 SWAT FITNESS RACING entry went to the back of the field, but not for long!
As a spotter for this event; I knew there was a distinct possibility this race would have cars going five wide; beating and banging like the race was on a short track; I, along with the fans were not disappointed.
Larry Hollenbeck wasted no time heading to the front of the field. In fact, at the halfway point, Larry was in second place, going for the lead, when he noticed oil pressure issues, that later turned out to being the demise of the team having a victory, or at least a top five finish.
At lap 67, smoke started rolling out of the car; caution flag was displayed, and Larry brought the car to pit road for the team to triage the problem.
Turned out, we had an oil line problem that there was not enough time to repair to return to the race.
Larry Hollenbeck and the SWAT RACING TEAM finished 31st for the day.
This run was a definite boost for driver and team morale alike, knowing we were headed to Daytona for the Nascar Busch Race on July 2nd.
Crew personnel involved in the event were: Jeff Styers-jackman; Dusty Boley-gasman; Todd Gault-catchcan; Chris Cook-front tire changer; Steve Eagle-front tire carrier; Lee Tallent-rear tire changer; Troy Boyer-rear tire carrier; Ed Simmons-spotter.
Race Crew Jobs personnel was contracted for the next two upcoming Nascar Busch Series Races. Updates to follow.

MAY 27th, 2004The season is moving right along on several fronts; from drivers in the ARCA Remax Series, to Nascar drivers alike.
At Charlotte, I was able to work with a new set of students from the University of Ohio/Northwestern from Lima, Ohio.
Some of their past students have worked/interned with Race Crew Jobs before. Such as, and congrats to Lucas Nobbe, newest team member for FITZ-BRADSHAW RACING in the NASCAR BUSCH SERIES. Also on board as a gasman for several events UNO Alumni, Dustin "Dusty" Boley.
The students have decided to work with Wayne Peterson, Mike Peterson and Gerald Smith of PETERSON MOTORSPORTS for the remainder of the season in the ARCA REMAX SERIES.
You may see these fine young men posing for a photo, which we now have on the photo gallery section of our website.
On the road this year are: Wayln Sims, age 19, of Coldwater, MI. Wayln is the front tire carrier.
Scott Blackburn, age 19, of Fremont, IN. Scott is the front tire changer.
Chris Rogers, of West Terre Haute, In. Chris is the rear tire carrier.
Randy Bawks, of Pickford, MI.
Randy is the rear tire changer.
Chad Reynolds, of Crothersville, IL. Chad is the jackman.
Tim Butler, of Columbus, OH. Tim is the catchcan man.
Zach Strader, of Indianapolis, IN. is the gasman.
On the photo gallery page: FROM TOP L-R: SCOTT; ZACK; WAYLN; TIM; BOTTOM L-R: CHRIS; RANDY AND CHAD.
These fine young men will be doing the complete 22 race schedule for PETERSON MOTORSPORTS.
The team, with driver Tim Mitchell, finished 25th.
RACE CREW JOBS would like to welcome QUAKER STEAK AND LUBE to the Concord area. GOOD LUCK ON YOUR NEW LOCATION!!!

TALLADEGA SUPERSPEEDWAY
AARON'S 312APR. 24, 2004BY: ED SIMMONS
Talladega, she came and went...
Sorry for the late update folks, I actually composed a complete wrap-up last weekend, but after two hours of work, the download failed, so we will go with the condensed version.
RACE CREW JOBS went to the Talladega Speedway on behalf of driver LARRY HOLLENBECK, with the #62 SWAT FITNESS entry for the running of the AARON'S 312 in the NASCAR BUSCH SERIES.
Larry quailified the car 33rd, after being 18th in the final practice. He was moved up to the 31st starting position when two other entries were moved to the rear of the field with various tech related issues.
The crew consisted of:
STEVE EAGLE: JACKMAN
DUSTY BOLEY: GASMAN
LUKE NOBBE: FRONT TIRE CARRIER
RON HARTSELL: FRONT TIRE CHANGER
TROY BOYER: REAR TIRE CARRIER
JEREMY FULLER: REAR TIRE CHANGER
JOHN TOLSCH: CATCHCAN
PIT BOARD/FUEL RUNNER:JEREMY BURGESS
2ND GASMAN: ED SIMMONS
UTILITY: JOSH
UTILITY: SKIP
SCORER: HEATHER MITCHELL
SPOTTER: J. HOLLENBECK
AND CREW CHIEF, MIKE STEWER.
The day had it's moments, and of course, the "BIG ONE(s)."
We started the weekend on shaky ground as a crew; vehicle breakdowns; midnight caravans to the rescue; 40 hours with no sleep; traffic issues for personnel trying to get to the track. It was almost a normal Talladega weekend...
LARRY HOLLENBECK finished 27TH, two laps down.
Clint Bowyer from RCR RACING took the pole for the event.
It was a great weekend of racing; there are too many folks to thank for all the help; YOU KNOW WHOM YOU ARE!!!!!
RACE CREW JOBS is currently planning on ARCA, NASCAR BUSCH SERIES AND NEXTEL CUP Races for the end of May at the Lowe's Motorspeedway.
We are at present recruiting experienced personnel to fill some of the needed positions that are currently being considered.
Please check our contact page to send resume information.
CHECK BACK FOR FURTHER UPDATES!!!
NASHVILLE ARCA PFG-150APRIL 9TH, 2004OKAY, I know, I know; why was this post not up last weekend???
I worked over two hours on a Nashville recap, but, when I went to post same to the website, it disappeared into electronic space...
So, today, we are going to recap Nashville, and post information on the staff of RACE CREW JOBS upcoming events.
So, I will start with the NASHVILLE SUPERSPEEDWAY events.
RACE CREW JOBS was contracted by Jeff McClure, Crew Chief of the #08 BRAD KEMP RACING, with driver T.J.Bell of Sparks, Nevada.
We arrived in Lebanon, a suburb area of Nashville to check into our motel rooms, which, we found that our reservations had been, for lack of better words; SCREWED UP. Now, should I blast the motel, why, of course, they are deserving of what I call the INCOMPETENCE AWARD.
KNIGHTS INN; what happend here folks??I thought chivalry was'nt dead...I guess it is with this motel. This is the motel right off of exit 238/I-40. You got my credit information correct; but, you got my name, check-in and depart dates wrong! Work on it folks! I've stayed at this motel on several occassions with no problems in the past...They will never see anymore of my business!!!
Runner-up; and a close second: NASHVILLE SUPERSPEEDWAY.
To the staff at the track; look up the following words; courtesy rides; garages; camping; parking for teams. Now, this is a track that wants a cup date...hmmmmmm...Would they have made Dale Jr., Tony Stewart, Mark Martin, Rusty Wallace walk all the way from the credential office to the infield garage area??
Well, my staff, and other teams had to do just that. We had to carry in all of our race day gear and coolers. Now sure, the exercise is great, but, we spent a lot of energy that we needed to save for the race.
Oh, I know the track response; "We had trolleys circling the track to pick up folks." I know corn syrup in the winter that moved on a better schedule than that "trolley" did!!!
NASHVILLE: Take note; you have a long, long way to go before you should even approach NASCAR about a cup date.
Okay, soap box is away, back to the positives of the weekend.
As I stated in my earlier story on NASHVILLE SUPERSPEEDWAY, during the test sessions, I spoke of the up and coming drivers; one being Ryan Hemphill.
Ryan took the pole for the ARCA PFG 150, setting a new track record of 161.369/29.738, winning the PORK POLE AWARD. Great job Ryan! I hope the lucky coin I gave you is starting to work it's magic. It appears you both are headed in the right direction. Oh yes, I gave Ryan the coin at Daytona, where he had a 5th place finish.
Ryan led 73 of the 113 lap event, having engine/clutch problems, which left him with a 15th place finish.
Driver T.J. Bell qualified 15th; posting a speed/time of 156.455/30.672, and had a finish of 30th place. T.J. went on a mission, and quickly. He was in 6th position, when he came in with damage to the left front of the car during caution lap pit stops. He went back out in the 23rd position, but we knew there was plenty of racing to go to make up the deficency. The crew did four tires, fuel, and repaired the left front damage. Total time in the pit box was 52.309 seconds. If the damage had not occured, the stop would have been 18.9 seconds. Not too bad for a crew that had their first race as a total package crew.
T.J. immediately started moving to the front again, without any hesitation on his part. As T.J. stated on the radio; "it was driving like a Cadillac." He went back as high as the 11th position before he started having clutch problems on lap 68. The car went behind the wall, not to return to the event. T.J. ended his day with a 30th place finish.
All and all, it was a great weekend; the people made the diffrence; THEY ALWAYS DO!!!
Thanks to the following: T.J. Bell; his family; Jeff McClure; "Speedy"; Heath and Sonny Ross; Wayne; Red; and so many others.
Crew personnel from RACE CREW JOBS were Steve Eagle, Dusty Boley, Troy Boyer and Jeremy Fuller.
RACE CREW JOBS will have personnel at the upcoming Talladega Superspeedway NASCAR BUSCH SERIES event. We will be affiliated with Larry Hollenbeck, driver of the #62 SWAT FITNESS CHEVROLET.
Also, we will be assisting KEMP RACING with personnel for the ARCA RACE at the SALEM MOTORSPEEDWAY on April 25th, 2004.
We will be updating both events upon our return to N.C.
Everyone have a safe trip to the tracks!!!

NASHVILLE ARCA TEST SESSIONMARCH 25TH, 2004In the 1970's, a reporter went to a club in New Jersey to see Bruce Springsteen perform. He was quoted as saying, "I have seen the future of rock and roll."
I went to Nashville for the ARCA test session, which was held on March 25th, 2004. I was quoted as saying, "I have seen the future of auto racing."
Yes, this is a story of up and coming drivers, for better or worse, we are going to use the term, which is truly worn out to a lot of readers right now in racing circles; you've guessed it: "YOUNG GUNS"
Two drivers at his session come to mind immediately; Ryan Hemphill and Jason Petrino.
Two young men from different parts of our great nation; Hemphill from the great state of Pennsylvania; and, Jason Petrino from Kingston Springs, Tn. that desire to be a great racer is in both these young men; even though they have different accents when they talk; even if they come in with different family backgrounds; they are the same in so many ways...
Both came in with high expectations of their future in the sport; hopefully, they will show that the "good guys" can get a break and be a success in spite of the odds that are handed out to keep a ride, or even, get a ride in today's sponsor fueled sport.
This was Jason Petrino's first time in a stock car with the horsepower to make your heart skip a beat; on a track longer than 1/2 mile; having to wear head and neck restraint systems; having officials look at this performance as to obtain his ARCA License for future events.
It was Jason's first day for the rest of his young life. Jason will be 18 on May 19th; the future of racing is his...he will take this bull by the horns and run with it!!
Ryan Hemphill, same m.o.; he will be a success, he is already on the fast track with GANASSI RACING; being in their development program; driving BRAUN RACING prepared cars; he will go to the next levels of stock car racing; I GUARANTEE IT!!!
Now, everything was not perfect for Jason Petrino; on his last "performance lap", the car washed out on him; he brushed the turn four wall ever so lightly. In racing terms of repair, ever so lightly means at least 2000 plus dollars of damage.
He did not panic; he did not lock the brakes up; he just tried to steer the car. Was it his fault; not totally; he was on thirty plus lap tires when he went out for his first time. We had stickers on the way for his next segment, but, a little too late in the session to help him...
I was his spotter; I take my responsibility for my part. It was a beautiful thing to watch; it was like watching your child take their first steps. If I felt he was out of control, I would have clamped down on him immediately. The setup put in by Wayne Peterson and Gerald Smith was right on the money; the tires I feel would have been the saving grace of the run. Hindsight is 20/20, so now, we all have perfect vision.
Ryan Hemphill was at the top of the speed charts for the day, right under the heels of Frank Kimmel. It was his first time at the Nashville Superspeedway also. Again, great things are coming Ryan's way; I'm sure victory lane will be on his list of things to do for the 2004 season.
Call it testing, call it practice; I call it the first step toward the future of their collective successes as drivers.
Sure, they are going to have bad days at the track; Jason had his the first day out; but, I see the determination in both these young men's eyes to succeed; it will come about.
Please take a look at our photo gallery for pictures of the test aftermath; and please visit ARCARACING.COM for the complete test session run down.
RACE CREW JOBS will have staff working for the BRIAN KEMP RACING entry; the #08, driven by rookie of the year contender, T.J. Sparks, also one of the "YOUNG GUNS" of the sport. His driving will do his talking.
Hope to see each of you at the NASHVILLE SUPERSPEEDWAY on Easter Weekend.
The ARCA Race will be televised live on SPEED CHANNEL; 9pm edt, April 9th, 2004.
WE WOULD ALSO LIKE TO WELCOME RON HARTSELL TO THE STAFF OF RACE CREW JOBS AS ONE OF OUR NEW PIT COACHES.
Until the next time....
HERSHEY'S KISSES 300
DAYTONA INTL. SPEEDWAYFEB. 16, 2004
(RAINWOW; WHAT A SPEEDWEEKS AT DAYTONA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, the time at Daytona is over for now, and yes, it was a busy time for all involved!!!
Thanks to Larry Hollenbeck and the team at the #62 SWAT FITNESS RACING!!!
> Race Crew Jobs stepped up for another opportunity to assist drivers in our racing community.
I(Ed Simmons) received a call from Larry on Sunday, mid-morning, to get a crew together the following day for the completion of the HERSHEY KISSES 300---NASCAR BUSCH SERIES RACE on 02-16-2004, a rain date makeup. Since he was about to loose most of his crew help, due to the postponment of the race, he needed additional over-the-wall crew to complete his task.
Now, here I am in N.C., I've had most of my crew stand down, and others were at Daytona on other assignments; so, I was stretched to find the needed personnel to help the team reach their goals for the race.
Hitting my rolodex, along with my black book; and last but not least, my e-mail downloads; I began my quest to find the needed crew personnel.
I made calls from Indiana back to Daytona Beach running guys down to complete the deal. The chain of events would make a nice story, but, the theory we are all connected by five still holds true; so this pretty much shortens the story.
Thanks to J.P. Malone; Luke Nobbe; Jimmy Neal; Shawn Newcombe; Tommy Gunn; Jeff Styers; Dan Mrak; Clint Smith; Jason Riggs for getting me leads on guys available at Daytona and the Mooresville/Statesville, N.C. area that could possibly make the event.
Thanks to Matt Auger and Lee Tallent for going down as tire changers on the #62 SWAT RACING entry; thanks to our newest find, Dave Pukis for showing up for jackman/gasman combo duties as needed. (THANKS J.P.)
Unfortunately, on lap 41, Larry Hollenbeck was involved in a 10 car crash; damaging the front of his car beyond repair, as not being able to return to the race. Larry was in the wrong place at the wrong time. How many times have we heard that same statement from other drivers so many times?
Larry qualified 34th out of a field of 54 entries; ending his race day with a 37th place finish, taking home $35,350.00 for his truly hard effort, not to mention the dedication of his full time staff.
Thanks to Mike Stewer, crew chief of the 62/SWAT RACING TEAM; he makes the most out of what cards he is dealt at the track.
Again, thanks to all that assisted in helping out your fellow man in a time of need.
STAY TUNED FOR SOME MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENTS COMING IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE!!!!!!

DAYTONA SPEEDWEEKS/ARCA 200
AND MORE!!!
02/01/2004---02/08/2Daytona, a place where you never know what is going to happen; on and off the track...
First of all, thanks to Larry Hollenbeck, and the SWAT FITNESS TEAM/#70 for the opportunity to give some new personnel, some that had never been over the wall, their first chance to experience the natural rush of doing, what you hope, will be a successfull pit stop.
Some new faces that came out to work this year were, Jeremy Fuller, James Lewis; current students with NASCAR TECH INSTITUTE; Zach Adcock from the UNIVERSITY OF OHIO/NORTHWESTERN; Matt Auger, former student at NASCAR TECH INSTITUTE; and two year plus regulars, Mike Davis; Dan Twining; Dustin "Dusty" Boley; scorer-Heather Dodd.
The off season, along with inexperience on a lot of crew members part made for interesting stops; from everything from our driver missing the box on the first stop on lap 19; along with the air hose assembly (new connections at that) for the front tire changer, Jeremy Fuller, snapping loose on his first time over the wall. Jeremy recovered nicely; I (Ed Simmons) had a heck of a time to get the assembly back together, but, it all worked out, and the stop was completed.
The crew chief Mike Stewer gave the crew an A+ for effort; I gave the stops a C- for overall performance. These guys will be an A+ crew as the season progresses, plus the fact these guys never had practiced together; give me guys with heart, and the mind will follow!
The off season caught up with a lot of teams; plus the adrenaline flow of just being at that point at Daytona; even race winner, Kyle Busch's team had a miscue which cost the team a lap; that being a crew member not going over the wall in proper safety attire; again, a lot of crews did not perform as well as they planned and had practiced for.
Larry Hollenbeck and the SWAT FITNESS RACE TEAM had a 16th place finish to end their day.
The team will also be making an attempt for the DAYTONA HERSHEY'S KISSES 300; there are currently 54 entries for this event; GOOD LUCK GUYS!
RACECREWJOBS.COM will have crew personnel going to the next ARCA 150 at the Nashville Superspeedway on April 9th, 2004; plus, we hope to be involved again this year with various NASCAR BUSCH SERIES TEAMS.
We are currently recruiting experienced personnel, plus we will be training the crew personnel of the future.
SPECIAL NOTE:CREW PERSONNEL ON OUR ON-CALL LIST WILL BE RECEIVING AN E-MAIL TO REQUEST UPDATED CONTACT INFORMATION.
In closing, thanks to Mike Koch from the #79 team/KOCHRACING.COM; for the loaning of pit equipment for our efforts; thanks to Mike and Wayne Peterson for the safety helmets and fire suits; our new personnel are working on their safety gear for the season; some stuff is on back order guys...
OUR PRAYERS ARE WITH THE WEAVER FAMILY ON THEIR LOSS; BEING A TRACK WORKER IS JUST AS DANGEROUS AS ANY JOB BEING DONE AT THE TRACK, AND SOMETIMES THEIR DEDICATION TO MAKING OUR SPORT SAFER GOES OVERLOOKED; MAY GOD BLESS THE WEAVER FAMILY IN THEIR TIME OF UNDERSTANDING.
In closing, the week was a true learning experience for all involved; it is the first step for some folks, the closing days of careers for others.
BEHIND THE SCENES MVP: Mary Ann Petrino of Nashville, Tn., for being there to support the team; taking care of the team; taking care of the "pups".
CONGRATS TO ROB AND ALISON OF WWW.INSIDETHEPITBOX.COM FOR THEIR UPCOMING NUPTIALS ON FEBRUARY 14TH, 2004. YOU BOTH ARE GREAT PEOPLE; YOU TWO ARE SOUL MATES!!!
I keep trying to end the article, but, also thanks for all the calls and e-mails concerning my father's surgery to remove cancer. The surgery went well, and he is in recovery in ICU at Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville, N.C.
BIG JOHN, my dad; I Love You!
Until the next time, everyone stay safe; be careful on the road; and everyone; do not forget to have a great VALENTINE'S DAY; remember all the ones you truly love!!!

DAYTONA--2003--ARCA TESTINGDEC. 18-21, 2003 HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!!!!!!!
The staff and all associates of RACE CREW JOBS would like to wish everyone a very, truly very, HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON!!!
It is Monday afternoon, and I'm here with the flu, after a long weekend of testing at the Daytona International Speedway.
The test session is just that, to see where your race program stands, and where the car and team need to be when they arrive in February/2004 for the running of events at Speedweeks.
RACECREWJOBS.COM was at Daytona on behalf of KOCHRACING.COM; driver(s) Mike Koch, from Mountain Home, Ak., and Tim Turner, from Pulaski, Tn., car #79 and #97.
Tim Turner returned to Daytona as the "Cinderella" story of the 2003 DAYTONA ARCA 200; Mike Koch was making his first appearance at a superspeedway test to obtain his certification to drive on superspeedways that ARCA competes at. Mike Koch passed his test session with flying colors.
FOR COMPLETE LIST OF TIMES AND TEAMS IN ATTENDANCE, GO TO ARCARACING.COM FOR COMPLETE DETAILS.
The weekend was a learning experience for this new team; some, it was their first time at this track of so many stories. Some of us, we should have our mail delivered there....
Congrats to Ryan Hemphill on being the first one at the new SUNOCO Fuel Facility; the 77/BRAUN RACING TEAM was there, along with team mate, Deborah Renshaw, driver of the 64/BRAUN RACING TEAM.
2003 will go down in my life as one of the most trying times; not just at the race track, but, in my personal life. I would like to thank everyone for the calls about my father, John Simmons. My dad had open heart surgery in July, survived that ordeal, and is now fighting cancer of the throat and lung areas in his body. I now know where my inner strength comes from to survive any task or ordeals that come my way. He is a courageous man, and even when I came back from Daytona, with the flu bug, "POPS", as he is affectionately known, did not complain of his situation, but, asked me how I was feeling, and of course, the question of the test session on how things went. He had nothing but smiles for me upon my arrival...Dad, I love you; my prayers are with you every day as you may see the soon remission of your disease. MAY GOD BLESS YOU!!!
To everyone, think about your 2003 as a whole; think about how you will make 2004 better for everyone around you; at the track and at home.
May everyone have a safe and happy time in this festive season; remember; NO DRINKING AND DRIVING!!!
If you are at Daytona this coming 2004 season, drop us a line, we would love to meet each and everyone of you.
Until the next time...

MODOC SPEEDWAY
OCT. 23-26, 2003What a great weekend of the national championship for late model dirt.
I went down to assist BOLEY ENTERPRISES CAR #75, driver--Dustin"Dusty"Boley of Marietta, Ohio.
I first met Dusty with his fellow classmates of the University of Ohio/Northwestern at the DAYTONA SPEEDWAY at the running of the ARCA 200. They interned with a team RACECREWJOBS.COM was associated with for speedweeks.
SEE PAST DAYTONA STORY FOR THOSE DETAILS
Dusty is an excellent dirt track racer, and his emotional control skills of being a racer are superb!
What some drivers call an infraction; Dusty thinks it is great racing! He is a clean racer, but he makes other drivers earn their pay, and Dusty was out to take the whole pot in the poker game called dirt track racing; old school style; home back to Ohio to rebuild for 2004.
There was great competition; Dave Reuttiman driving a NEMCO TEAM(Joe Nemechek) entry; several excellent local drivers; and folks from just about everywhere; the road was lined with eager fans/competitors to attend this event; make the feature; go home $10,000+++ richer...
Thanks to Kyle Busch for being honorary flagman; thanks to the folks of Augusta, Ga.; thanks to Sam at "Sam's Convenience Store; remember in N.C.; those prices are called "Bootlegging"; or as you said: "FREE ENTERPRISE". Also, SAM, you gave great directions to the track; you were the only one that had only "one" idea where the track was located. {PARANOIA KICKED IN AT THIS POINT; I ASSUMED OTHER TEAMS HAD A CONSPIRACY FOR ME NOT TO GET THERE....I'M BETTER NOW...LOL...LOL}
Thanks to "team mom", Diane Boley; Thanks to "Papa" Boley; thanks to Rex; THANKS TO TEAM 33 for the "hospitality"; congrats to Steve and the team for a third place feature finish, taking home $4.000 for the weekend.
EVERYONE HAVE A VERY HAPPY THANKSGIVING.....BE SAFE IN YOUR TRAVELS!!!

CHARLOTTE RACE WEEK RECAPOCT. 7-11, 2003If you are reading this and were at Charlotte this week; you made it home safely which is really when the race ends!
The rain at Charlotte is a humbler to say the least; it probally changed the fate for a lot of teams and drivers for the upcoming 2004 season.
It is hard when new sponsorship has signed up to come on board, and you cannot truly show what the team can do, except the weather is your main hindrance, but, this story also has a blessing of what the rain meant to others.
Congrats to David Boggs and the #38 Sarf-Boggs Racing Team for a 5th place finish in the ARCA Easycare 150. We met some great folks on that team this past week. The rain turned out to be their racing allie; bringing out a caution for rain, leading to a shortened race.
Justin Koch had his first chance to go over the wall for the first time as a gasman; it appeared to pay off immensely; since he was working with the #38 team for the first time. GREAT JOB! (you did good "grasshopper"!)
Tim Turner, driver of the #13 TEAM 13/DMW MOTORSPORTS entry was unable to make the race due to the cancellation of qualifying from the showers we all hoped would pass; but, this rain also sent 25+ other teams home also. You can go to ARCARACING.COM for complete details.
Several of us arrived on Tuesday to attend the Winston Extreme Tribute Concert. It was fantastic; all the performers put on a great show; even Wayne Newton kicked in to overdrive.
We had trying times all week, but, in the end, we all came out learning something about ourselves and others around us. We met a lot of new folks that came out and worked, partied, ate, cried together; it was a team experience, even for the fans!
There are so many folks to thank; Mike and Trish Koch, along with their family; the "road gang"; you know whom you are; and some of the new folks that are supporting each and everyone of our dreams to race.
Welcome Natalie Saul to TEAM 13/DMW MOTORSPORTS as contract PR/MEDIA Personnel; you are now on the first step of your journey into the world of racing. Good luck with your future.
Thanks to Dave and Essie Burgess for letting several of us climb on their deck to watch the Winston Cup Race from the infield; it was a great time for all in attendance.
Richard Childress in that #3......
In ten years, people will forget Tony Stewart's victory there, but they will never forget seeing that black #3 on the track under those lights; it was again, an amazing night!
Race Crew Jobs Staff will be at Daytona testing in December, 19th-21st for ARCA. We will post our hotel location in case others would like to meet up with us for some social time.
The race season as a whole is winding down, let us make the most of the time left, not just in racing, but in life itself.
Have a HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

TALLADEGA SUPERSPEEDWAYSEPTEMBER 24-28TH, 2The track, the "boulevard"; "redneck hill"; yes, it can only be one place: THE TALLADEGA SUPERSPEEDWAY!
It was a five day fiesta of racing; music; people moving to every kind of beat known to man.
My beat was the sounds from the track; the splendor of the smells; it truly makes you use five senses plus one. (6th sense for the non-e.s.p. readers)
The infield experience for the crew personnel in attendance; the drivers; everyone in general is almost like a "Racing Woodstock" with modern conveniences for hygiene; food consumption; working on the cars; it was so great to spend this time with such fantastic folks...we will do it all again and then some!!!
Last year, I injured myself during a pit stop, after slipping on fluid from my jack going off the wall.Going back to this track was more of a pilgrimage to settle any misunderstandings that this 2.66 mile had with me.
I think we did, I came home in one peace this year.....
I went to be with folks, and p.r. my business aspirations, hoping to have future events with teams at various levels.
I started out as a spotter for Jim Walker driving the #6. Jim had a DNQ, so he unfortunately did not make the show. Jim is an Alabama homeboy, so he will be back!
Then, I ended up in the box with the crew of the #28 Mike Buckley on race day.
I had the responsibility of fuel runner and helping with mileage figures. It is always a balancing act to keep the right amount of fuel in the car, not just for the engine, but, for how the car may handle with various fuel weight displacement.
I feel with the car never having to have a tire change during the race; only fuel; Mike did a great job to have a 14th place finish.
I hope that if you have never had the Talladega Experience; you make plans for next year, it is well worth the trip!!!
We hope to see you at Charlotte/Lowe's Motorspeedway next week. It will be an exciting week!
Get online with us next week for further announcements for RACE CREW JOBS plans, and other special news related items.
Until the next time, take care, be safe, be fasty....

WINCHESTER/DUQUOIN---LABOR DAY WEEKEND DOUBLEHEADER---ARCAAUGUST 31ST--SEPTEMB09-10-2003/POST DATE
Well, no, it did not take a week to get over the doubleheader races in the ARCA REMAX SERIES at Winchester, Indiana; and the DuQuoin, Illinois Dirt Mile; it just took nine days...
RACE CREW JOBS provided assistance to the team of Mike Koch(pronounced cook) of Mountain City, Ak.; driving his #79 entry on the DuQuoin Dirt Mile; the #6 of Wayne Peterson Motorsports(Koch's car) on the high banked half-mile at Winchester.
Mike Koch and his family placed an added suprise to our weekend.
They placed the address to this website on the rear quarter panels of their car. (PLEASE SEE PHOTO GALLERY) (PHOTOS COURTESY OF TIM TURNER OF DMWMOTORSPORTS.COM)
I wished we could have brought the team some racing luck...
It was once again a challenge for all involved. Half the battle for most teams is just making it to the event!
Between the "shagwag" doing a hydroplane dance in Indianapolis, Tom, Bill and Chris losing an engine on the way to the track; wait; that happened in Indianapolis too...
Am I on to something here; make note to self; do not drive anywhere near Indianapolis next year on the way to DuQuoin from Winchester.
The racing is always great; way too many stories to tell in this one article.
At DuQuoin, we were parked by Tony Stewart and the Home Depot Team. I was a little uneasy at first due to so many folks having a problem with Tony's attitude at times in the past.
Folks, the man is a total gentleman, and his crew, along with "Zippy" were great to all our team members and several lucky fans that were able to meet him.
At the end of the race, which Tony had won, a downpour came that turned our dirt infield into sort of a "racing Woodstock" to say the least. It was a nightmare for a lot of teams trying to make the exits.
Thanks Lord for those John Deere Machines!!! It was just another notch on the bad luck belt.
As all the teams were packing up, Tony did an autograph session at the rear of his transporter. I went over when he was getting ready to leave to autograph a jacket of mine, which by then was soaked. Tony let me know the Sharpie was not going to stick to the jacket, so I had him to autogrpah one of my business cards.
As he was pulling out in his rental car, which was almost bogged down in the mud, I challenged him on his driving skills, with Tony replying that "I apparently had never seen him drive before"; with a boyish grin looking for mischief on his face. He found it; with the car looking like an Illinois farmer's tractor. Now here is where he really put my words in the mud; he left, but then, he came back, with I giving him a double or nothing challenge. Again, he proved me wrong on getting stuck. Those darn dirt track racers!!!
It was a learning experience for the Koch Family, a.k.a. K&K Racing; an awakening that everyone is not as bad as you would think; it was a weekend of pulling people together to do the impossible; for some, doing 1600 miles of driving; or for finding the zipper on your tent after one of our after race parties in the camping area(s).
Thanks to everyone that helps, you know whom you are, and you are special above special!
Well, I am packing my bags again; headed back to Indiana, this time to the Salem Speedway. I smile, knowing this trip, I do not have to drive through Indianapolis.
If you see the "shagwag" on the road; wave, blow, or get us on the C.B.; just do not attempt to feed the crew animals onboard...
Until the next time, may all of you enjoy what we in the racing community serve up.
This weekends Salem Speedway Race will be live on Speed Channel, check your local listings.
Some of us will be headed back out with various NASCAR BUSCH TEAMS to finish our racing seasons. I hope to see you great folks out there!!
MAY GOD BLESS EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU; AND REMEMBER THE VICTIMS OF 9-11 AS THE DATE APPROACHES.

ARCA---NASHVILLE WASTE MANAGEMENT 200AUGUST 9TH, 2003CONGRATS TO MARIO GOSSELIN AND HIS FULL TIME CREW FOR THE GREAT WIN AT THE NASHVILLE SUPERSPEEDWAY!!!
Race Crew Jobs associates, Chris Cook, Bill Cooper and Amber Koch assisted the #12 team into getting to victory lane.
It was a weekend of highs and lows; great expectations of what could come for all involved...
The low point was the fact that Mike Koch, driver of the #79 Chevrolet Monte Carlo failed to make the field with his brand new car.
The 79 team, running for the first time as a stand alone team, did not have any provisionals to make the race, barely being edged out of the field on his qualifying time.
The high for team 79, also known as K&K Racing of Mountain Home, Arkansas, was the fact they were able to test the car under race conditions, showing the car has massive potential for future events.
Team 79/K&K Racing will attempt to make the field for the Winchester, Indiana event scheduled for Labor Day Weekend, August 30th, 2003.
GOOD LUCK TEAM K&K!!!
One of the highlights of the weekend was watching the faces of our associate crew personnel in victory lane; moments like that are rare, and are cherished by all of those involved.
RACE CREW JOBS hopes all of our associates one day know the thrill of victory, but, then again, most know the victory of just being at the track and feeling the pleasure of being around great people!
Dale Wright, owner of ARCA's TEAM 13/DMWMOTORSPORTS.COM; with driver Tim Turner, was also at the event; learning more and more as a owner in the ARCA Series. Tim Turner will be running a limited schedule for the remainder of the season for DMW MOTORSPORTS.
Dale Wright and myself had the honor of spending time with Junie Donlavey, whom if you do not know the name, you better get out your NASCAR and ARCA history books to learn of one of the true legends of stock car racing!
Mr. Donlavey shared his racing wisdom; he summed it up to one point; "You meet such great people in racing, the on track activities are just an added benefit."
I think Dale and I took the point to heart, we know people are our greatest resource in the sport of racing!
I would like to thank our newest additions to the inner circle, Clint Saul and Matt Oger, interns for the weekend. These fine young men attend the Nascar Technical Institute with the desire to one day enter the racing industry. They will make a fine addition to industry as a whole in the very near future. GOOD LUCK GUYS!!!
We would like to thank our special guests for the weekend, and a special thanks and MVP BEHIND THE SCENES AWARD to Mary Ann Petrino for helping to put motels, transportation, meals together for all of those in attendance.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
SPECIAL NOTE: Again, thanks for all the kind messages and thoughts for my father, John Simmons, whom is healing quite well at Wake Forest Medical Center/Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem, N.C., following open heart surgery. He should be finished with rehab soon, and returning back home to Statesville, N.C.
Everyone be safe; I hope to see everyone at a race event in the future!
Photos of the Nashville event will be posted soon into our photo gallery, along with previous events earlier in the season.
UPCOMING: NASHVILLE ARCA SERIES
AUGUST 8th/9th, 2003Race Crew Jobs is currently recruiting volunteers for driver Mike Koch(pronounced "cook") as he attempts to compete at the Nashville Superspeedway on August 9th, 2003.
We have received replies from some of our newer interns that will be coming to the track to learn how they will apply their future and present skills in the racing industry.
Details are forthcoming on the plans for the Nashville event.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me at EDSIMMONS@RACECREWJOBS.COM
I will be posting further updates prior to the event, as to keep everyone posted on our progress.

Gladiators of the Race Award06-14-2003-ARCA FLAG
Well, it never ceases to amaze me the way an over-the-wall crew will sacrifice themselves to get their driver out of the pits to gain as many positions as possible, especially in ARCA.
In ARCA, the field freezes when a caution is displayed; so therefore, it is up to the pit crew to improve their driver's position on his return to the track after completing a successful pit stop.
This past weekend was no exception, when the pit crew of the ARCA #89 driver, A.J. Alsup, performed the necessary pit duties; and while attempting to make adustments, one of the crew members(crew list not complete at time of this press release)"Kyle", while attempting to remove wedge on the right rear, and in doing so, took the ride of his life as his driver left the pitbox while Kyle was attempting to remove his tools from the car's adjustment points.
Kyle took a hard hit to the pit road surface, with his head hitting the ground with such force, knocking his safety helmet from his head.
Kyle received no serious injury, proving that helmets and firesuits are by all means necessary for crew members to maintain their safety during the organized chaos of a successful pit stop.
The crew consisted of Winston Cup personnel from Jimmy Spencer's #7 Ultra Motorsports team; providing a jackman; gasman; Todd Bodine's #54 provided a tire carrier, and as stated before this press release, we did not receive the complete names of crew members involved with the stop. This story will be updated, and we will have all personnel involved listed as soon as possible.
Chris Cook, a regular with Race Crew Jobs, and a full time student at the University of Ohio/Northwestern, served as front tire carrier for the team.
Chris has come a long way since his first over the wall experience at Atlanta; serving as a tire changer for Wayne Peterson Motorsports on March 8th, 2003.
Chris Cook will step up to any task handed to him; he served as a catchcan man for Mike Harmon at Nashville for both his ARCA and Nascar Busch efforts; gasman for Mike Koch (pronounced Cook) at Salem, In.; spotter for Brian Conz at Berlin, Mi.; and tire changer at most other events. Chris has given the meaning of on-the-job training a new twist...a true Gladiator!
The tenacity of the #89 crew paid off this past weekend; they were awarded Gladiators of the Race by the Gladiator Works Company; showing the crew with truly the most heart can prove their mettle to others in the sport.
Congratulations Gentleman!!!
Race Summary: Casey Mears took the victory, Hermie Sadler, 2nd, and Frank Kimmel finished 3rd.
A.J. Alsup lost his engine on lap 41; also lost an engine during happy hour. This team made the most of their efforts!
Race Crew Jobs next assignment will be at Milwaukee on June 29th, 2003, with the #84 of Brian Weber running the Milwaukee Mile in the Nascar Busch Series.

Nashville Busch Series Update06-08-2003TIRED AND BUSCHED OUT!
What a weekend; rain, what a suprise!
I should of had 10,000 rain ponchos with Race Crew Jobs.Com printed on same to hand out to crew personnel and the fans in the pit/garage areas for much of the season.
We have experienced some type of precipitation factor in just about every event our crew personnel have worked this season.
I almost felt rain gear will end up having to be made of nomax material so the crew can end up working events in the rain and still retain the safety factor of fire protection.
Of course, with the sprinklers from the skies going all the time, fire should be the least of our worries.
Ed Simmons received a midnight call on Wednesday from the #84 Nascar Busch Team of Brian Weber, needing a transport driver and a spotter for the weekend event at the Nashville Superspeedway.
Tim Turner, ARCA/Busch Series Driver, served as spotter for Brian Weber.
Ed Simmons drove the transporter, along with crew chief Amos French and team member Lee Tallent as passengers.
Forty-Four cars came to the show; one car went home, that being our team!
It was the first time in years that I had packed up and left the track before the actual running of the race...it was a racing deal soured by the rainout; so we did not have enough owner points to take one of the alloted provisionals, so we listened to the race on the radio on the way home...
I never want that to happen again; it was like a bad dream to say the least...
So, that is why my update is about the weather instead of racing.
There will be another day for the Weber Team; hopefully during the appearance at the Milwaukee Mile on June 29th.
I would also like to thank all the folks that showed up at Pocono for the ARCA Race; which was also rained out and resheduled to run as a companion race to the July Race.
We would like to thank our volunteer and paid staff alike; you folks make all the difference in the world!
Everyone have a safe week; and folks remember; there may be a bummed out transport driver out there staring off into space when you decide to merge without looking; you know whom you are!!!! So, be careful on our interstate system!
Until next time....

RACE CREW JOBS AT KANSAS SPEEDWAYTHE IMPORTANCE OF Dateline: Kansas Speedway/06-01-2003
Volunteers, they truly make their mark in all parts of life; whether it is building a house for a needy family; or collecting donations for their favorite local charities; delivering meals to the elderly; ringing the bell at Christmas at your local shopping center.
Volunteers that show up at the track have the same goal, to help a person in need; a team that is under funded, or just short of personnel due to the travel distance and conflicting schedules.
Such great volunteers made their presence known this past weekend at the Kansas Speedway.
Mike Koch and family, Trisha, Justin and Amber; and the Peterson Motorsports troupers, Wayne Peterson, Gerald Smith, and driver Brian Conz realized the importance of volunteers that came in on their on dime and time to help out the two car team in need of personnel.
Thanks for scoring; thanks for pushing the car(s) through tech; thanks for dealing with the muscle aches; thanks for caring about your fellow humans in the world of racing; just thanks for helping!!!
The volunteers for the deal (some may call it an ordeal) were Dan Twining, Van C. VanDruff, Linda VanDruff, Todd Moran, Julie Moran.
They are like many other folks in the racing industry that come when the call is put out; but, their mettle is that of folks that would show up to help anyone in their community in time of any great needs. They are the hidden asset in the racining industry, not that shiny transporter, or that new set of stickers; they are the real deal!
May you know the feeling of helping out your fellow man; if not in racing; put rubber on those feet and walk for you local March of Dimes; or just visit someone that cannot get out in the world to come and see you.
Until the next time, may God Bless each and everyone of you!

NASHVILLE UPDATE ABOVE!
DAYTONA: 2003---FOLKS-START YOUR ENGINES!02-15-2003The start of the 2003 season was a "soul cleansing" from the off season; a time to reflect on last years individual achievements and sometimes, the hurt of failure in not reaching your goals.
Again, RACE CREW JOBS starts off the season with what Don Radebaugh of ARCA called the "Cinderella Story" of the Daytona ARCA 200.
An underfunded team; limited resources; a rookie driver in regards to the high banks and speed of Daytona; a crew that had a long off season; an car owner digging deep into his pockets to put a car on the track that would garner the respect of every driver/team owner in the 65+ entries; everything was against this group; but, the one thing this team still has: FAITH!
Tim Turner showed he has what it takes to get the job done with the right set of circumstances; a car owner and car chief with 40+ years experience; a team that was unstoppable!!!!!!
Wayne Peterson and Gerald Smith proved that a man's mind and soul can out think, outwit, overwhelm the "computer crew chiefs" of pit road of late.
The team getting into the race on time was a victory in itself; it made me cry, along with my team mates; it had been a year in the making; a lot of late night calls; late nights in the shop; late nights on the road; late nights without sleep like a kid waiting on Christmas Morning; late nights period.(Any company reading this that supplies night time sleep aids we would love to put you on the hood of one of our entries in the near furture)
We sat on the "bubble" for so long, I now know why Preparation H can afford so many tv commercials!!!!!
There are so many folks to thank; Wayne and Sarah Peterson; Gerald Smith; Mike Peterson; Mike Davis; Kurth Thayer; Dan Twining; Lee Tallent; Steve Eagle; Dale Wright; Heather Mitchell; Heather Trego; Ed Simmons; Mike and the crew/family of K&K Racing of Arkansas; Doc Brewer and our other "racing neighbors"; Chris Cook; Bob Watkins; Dusty Boley from the University of Ohio/Northwestern; Luke Nobbe; Jack Martin; Tim Mitchell; and our driver, TIM TURNER.
SPECIAL THANKS TO OUR SPONSORS; ALARMSOUTH; NEALCO; TRIM IT UP; MITCHELL RACE ENGINES; AND ALL THE FOLKS FROM ARCA THAT HELP MAKE THE VENUES POSSIBLE FOR US TO SHOW OUR STUFF
PETERSON MOTORSPORTS AND THE PERSONNEL OF RACE CREW JOBS WILL BE AT ATLANT ON MARCH 8th, 2003; COME OUT AND VISIT THE 6/06 TEAM.
